True Strike is a cantrip, a resource you can cast indefinitely, but it doesn’t mean that it’s free. Breaking Down the Spell and Why is it so Bad ![]() On your next turn, you gain an advantage on your first attack roll against the target, provided that this spell hasn’t ended. Your magic grants you a brief insight into the target’s defenses. You extend your hand and point a finger at a target in range. The school is divination, and the effect is as follows: ![]() The duration is 1 round and uses your concentration. The casting time is 1 action, the range is 30 feet, and the component is just somatic. “True Strike” is a cantrip or 0-level spell. However, let’s get deeper and see what this spell is hiding. We’ll discuss this further, but at first glance: If you are starting at DND and learning about the rules, avoid this trap of a spell entirely. This video sums up its issues in the funniest of ways: So it’s not only that you have a lousy resource at your disposal, but it also fooled you into believing it was good. True Strike SOUNDS awesome… but it’s garbage. Or Friends, it has one good sentence and then three negative repercussions. It sounds good when you read the spell the first time, but you know you’re being a coward. However, the hate this D&D spell receives, I think, all comes down to “what it says” vs “what it does.” May I say it is the worst cantrip in the game, followed closely by “ Blade Ward” and “Friends.” This fact is a long discussion, and you can go over the internet to find many reasons why it’s the case. Question: Does True Strike tell resistances?.Question: Is True Strike a bonus action?.One Small Change Could Make the Difference.True Strike is Excellent for Something, though.Breaking Down the Spell and Why is it so Bad.If only you’d reacted sooner, if only you attacked first. It has already struck your chest by the time you see the slight stagger in the enemy’s left foot. Your eyes shimmer with the light of the cloudy day, looking for a weak spot on your enemy. Nearly a second after, you see a silhouette coming your way. The silent noise of a weapon being drawn tells you that the enemy is about to attack. The thick mist clouds your sight, but your ears are sensitive enough. The wind blows through your long hair, making it billow in the air, and your eyes scout ahead with an eagle’s precision. Walking amid the mist and silence, with your trusty katana sheathed, waiting to strike only when you so desire. Tough but very satisfying. The lonely road ahead is only fitting for a guy like you. This took me around 10-12 mins, but i did it first try. I did pop a mana pot about a 1/3 way through, LoH 2/3 through and then had to bubble near the end to get a bit of mana and health back. Now just keep hacking away, you should be regaining mana at a rate that means you can keep the heals, your shield and exorcism up, and as i said my avoidance was so high that he didnt hit me at least half the time, and when he did it was always partially blocked. Cast Holy Light every time your hp hits around 2.5k (this way you get some of the mitigation from ardent defender, and can get the heal off b4 you get too low) In terms of offence use only auto-attack and exorcism (libram of wracking is useful here) every time it pops up, as exorcism (for me) was hitting around 1100 damage for only 236 mana.Ĥ. I had all blue gear except for my boots, and my stats were 11khp, 12k armor, 490 def, but the blues i had were mostly block/parry/dodge/def rating, so i had about 101% avoidance (with shield up).ġ.
